Mission Arlington 2010

What a great day! We spent the morning picking up donations and the afternoon doing Rainbow Express. We had a ton of kids and the rain held off until we were packing up. Keep praying. God is already doing amazing things!

Mission Arlington 2010: Day 1

We made it to Arlington! This afternoon we went to a worship service held at Mission Arlington to prepare us for the week of service to come. This week we will be running Rainbow Express (a sort of VBS) for an apartment complex as well as helping around the Mission Arlington facilities. It is an amazing place run by compassionate people who seek to show God's love to the community around them by meeting their needs. Please pray that our kids would step out of their comfort zones and really reach out to the children and parents we will encounter this week. Pray also that we would all stay healthy. We will be spending a good portion of our afternoons outside in this blistering heat! Check back Monday evening. Pictures and video to come.

Camp Lakeside 2010: Day 2

Today started off with breakfast bright and early at 8:00. After breakfast the kids headed to the Morning Celebration where Matt Roberson and his band lead us in a rousing game of Knight, Squire and Cavalier as well as some great worship. Following the games and worship Pastor Mark's good friend Paul Pakebusch shared his incredible testimony. We closed morning celebration with Paul leading everyone in song.

Next the kids headed off to have their Quiet time where they spend time alone with God, reading his word and praying. After their quite time was over the kids went to their family group bible study where they learned about how Jesus was captivated by God and why we should be as well.

At noon we all went to lunch and got ready for recreation. The kids got to participate in a wide variety of games including everything from bible trivia and name that tune to pool games and water games out in the rec fields. It's free time now and the kids are spread out across the camp ground swimming, swinging as well as sleeping!

Due to some bandwidth issues we were unable to upload our first video update but check back late tonight or tomorrow morning and we should have one posted.

Camp Lakeside 2010 Day 1:

We made it! Today the kids arrived at camp and were greeted by our leadership team. We kicked things off by going over the rules for camp and then the kids headed off to the mud pit. We got some great shots! After the mud pit the kids went to get cleaned up and headed to dinner. I'm not sure what a crispito is but the kids said they were great. I'll take their word for it! After dinner we had a prayer time followed by our evening worship service. Our amazing camp pastor Derrick Campbell brought the message and set the tone for the week.

After worship the kids set out to find their family group leaders in a game called Secret Church. The kids got a little taste of what it might be like to be a believer over seas where the gospel is not welcome. The kids had to search the camp grounds for their leader and if they got caught by Ryan, Shelley or Robert they were sent to Jail where they had to wait for a teammate to bail them out. Once all the kids had found their groups they ending the evening with family group bible study. Don't forget to check our the video update (it will be up soon, I promise!) and pictures below.

It has been a long day but God is already at work here. What an amazing start to our week here at Camp Copass!
